This part of our Web site has been created from work done by various members of the Lecore family. My "Uncle Harry", H.C. LECORE picked up on some research done by Stephen Martin in the Registry Office in London and attempted to trace the family back as far as possible, hoping to get back to our obviously French roots. I am in turn trying to map out the UK Lecore family, and also trying to get through the "Jacob Brickwall..." and get more detailled information on his ancestors.
The IGI index has been consulted intensively for all Lecore/LeCore/Lecour(t)/LeCour(t) families. I am now in the lengthy process of consulting original Parish Records entries - baptisms, marriages, burials - hoping to obtain more details like addresses, father's occupations etc in order to work out who Jacob and his ancestors were, and where they came from. The branch I have particularly worked on is the Jacob -> William -> John -> ... However the Jacob -> John -> John -> George & John William branches have also been pretty thoroughly checked too.
The Huguenot Society proceedings' transcripts and indexes gave me a lot of insight into the original LeCour(t) immigrants, who arrived from France in 1716. Traces of the LeCour(t) family can be found in several volumes of the proceedings : La Patente, Wheeler Street & The Artillery French churches, La maison de charité de Spitalfields. Spitalfields played a very central role in the family, where Pierre, Peter & James were bakers. The families of Pierre, Jean, Peter, James, Jacob and his descendants mostly lived in a very small area around Spitalfields Christ Church.
I have typed in Harry C Lecore's original 1980 document in Word format as I think he would have been proud to know that his work would be published on the Internet! His original chart has also been scanned in and put on the web site. It contains multiple errors in the early periods (1700s) as he based his tree on burial details which were erroneous...
Any offers of information, assistance, or even ideas of where to go next (see email address below) would be very welcome. Thanks must already go to Adrian LeCore, Barry LeCore, Jean Simpson, and Peter Lecore for their contributions !
